Since I have been working on my Genius Hour project for a marking period, I understand the difficulties and the benefits from this kind of project. I agree with this article on the fact that Genius Hour allows students to take control of their learning and creativity. It is a great way to let students explore their own interests and to move and their own pace. It is extremely beneficial in the way that a student learns to do something on their own and benefit others. I also agree that a Genius Hour project is not for everyone. Some students need the directions and specific assignments. I think that students really should have an option to choose whether or not they would like to participate in a Genius Hour project. Maybe teachers could provide a different assignment for those who need to be told what to do.
